Blackshirts on Sea

by J.A. Booker

A4 size - 117 pages

The chance discovery of an old photo album was the inspiration behind this fascinating pictorial record of a long-forgotten aspect of British social history. The album contained snap shots taken at Summer camps held in West Sussex during the 1930s. But these were holiday makers with a difference. The happy campers were all British Blackshirts, followers of Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. Up to 1,400 could be found under canvass at any one time.

Descriptions of personalities include: Geoffrey Dorman, Jorian Jenks, Frank Cork DFC, Captain B.D.E. Donovan and Nora Elam.
